ReplyDeleteIt took five years filled with blood, tears, and sweat, but it has finally paid off. He has already packed all the things he needs. He climbed the machine and sat on it. Now the only thing left is to enter the date destination. He entered 25-12-2010, exactly around Christmas time. He checked everything for the last time and then pulled the lever. Everything goes dark for a second until he slowly regained consciousness. He wobbled upstairs to finally see his family and friends having a time of their life. All hugging and touching skins with no mask on sight.

ReplyDeleteThis is a story about a teenager who does not seem to have any plans to do during quarantine. I mean, just look at him sleeping all day and rarely study, or do anything productive. Does this guy even have hobbies or something? Do the online classes affect his motivation, or is he just being lazy? Young people like him should use the time and energy available to do something meaningful like cooking, exercising, or socializing through online meeting apps. Now the quarantine has started to end, finals are coming up, but this guy did not prepare or study enough.

Since COVID-19 hits his country, the government decided to implement the virtual learning. Ali has always been a couch potato and his true love is always been his bed, "Quarantine?, that's a piece of cake", or so he thought. He hates it. Surprisingly, he misses the outside world. He misses the park, the theater, well he misses everything and there's nothing he can do about it other than praying for the ending. "Dear Lord, please end this thing"

ReplyDeleteYou may make plan, but you can’t fully control it. That is exactly what Andi experienced. In March, he and other students were glad knowing the national exam got erased. However, is it fair enough? High school activities got canceled even they couldn’t celebrate the graduation properly. It continued to the last six month of the year when he entered university. He thought he would go to Jogja, but the lectures were conducted online. He was very bored due to routine that he did over and over again. Time flies so fast, then he wondered when this disaster would end.

ReplyDeleteDodi was sitting on the gazebo in front of his room, thinking how 2020 will be without the virus. Will “tik tok” be this famous? Or maybe Trump will win the election? Or maybe he will understand accounting more? But suddenly he heard voices calling him “Dodi are you there? Can you hear me?”. He runs back to his room like his life was depending on that moment, but it was too late. The teacher already ended the class. Casually, he texted his teacher to say sorry and tells her that he got bad connections. That’s how life is now.

ReplyDeleteThe loud ring of the alarm was heard through the whole house. The sunlight peeked through the blind, shyly introducing themself. The time was seven-fifty in the morning. Indicating they were twenty minutes late for the class. The alarm snoozed again, letting them back to their dream. They dreamt of basking in the sun while taking a walk in Sidney when their phone shook, waking them from their slumber. "Why are you not in class? We're having a quiz right now!" Surprised, they quickly straighten up and open the laptop, attempting to answer the quiz with the ten minutes deadline.
Learning Outside Virtual Classroom
ReplyDeleteAs people say, learning cannot only be done in the classroom. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we can still learn outside of a (virtual learning) classroom by honing social sense through helping doctors on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. In the Sangumu Membantu movement, high school students from 20 provinces in Indonesia show their concern by organizing online fundraising. The initiator of this movement said, "Even though the money collected was not much, the value was more than that. Sangumu Membantu is a message for young people to keep giving contributions to their society even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

ReplyDeleteA quick shower until time strikes 10AM. Opened up the link sent via email, filling the attendance. There I was enjoying myself, on the coast of Miami. Wait, Miami? “Rp.99 on day 11/11 only!” while strolling around small shops, intriguing. 20minutes browsing their shelves, until some men break in, looting the place, setting fire down. Streets filled with people’s clenched fists in the air, “BLM!”. Also seeing almamaters shouting, “Tolak Omnibus!”. Wow.
Someone then walked up and said, “that's it for today’s class.” Woken up, tabs of Shopee and Twitter, behind: ‘Your host has ended the meeting session’.

ReplyDeleteIt's a rainy day while I'm counting every remaining days to get away from school. After an exhausting training and preparation, finally I won the nation's time machine competition and its reward. What a dream come true that I can skip my school, have a long holiday in Bali, without worry to attend the class for a full day. But wait, there is a guest in front of my house, "Hello, I'm Corona, don't worry, I'll fulfill your dream." Oh no, I think I was wrong in changing the time, It's still December 2020. Virtuall class is not my dream.
“KRRIIIING!” Imogen drowsily opened her eyes and hit the beeping alarm clock irritably. Imogen glanced at her clock. Five minutes before her constitutional law class would give her enough time to wash her face before going to her desk. It was now 7.58 AM. “Good morning, students. Now let’s begin with chapter 5. The federal supreme court….”. The professor’s voice faded as Imogen turned down her computer volume. She took out her phone and started scrolling through her timeline. The guilt inside her disappeared when she reassured herself that she will study the chapter after class. She never did.

ReplyDeleteAs Alan said goodbye to his classmates and started to turn his laptop off, tears started to roll down his face. He always dreamed of a fun and adventurous university life; little did he know the pandemic ruined it for everyone. After class Alan slumps his head on his table, feeling lifeless and defeated as he couldn’t understand anything in class. He put on a fake smile on so that people wouldn’t notice how lonely it is, but every day he feels like it’s getting harder and harder. “I just have to hold on for a bit longer” he thought.

ReplyDeleteAs soon as the alarm set off at 7:30 am, Krystal instantly woke up and got ready for class. She took a shower, had breakfast, and was ready for her class 5 minutes earlier than it started. As it ended, she continued her usual day. The next day, when the alarm rang, she snoozed it for ten minutes before waking up and continued her unexceptional day once again. The very next day, she snoozed her alarm for 20 minutes, but was unwilling to continue her repetitive day. She slept again and her days continued just like that throughout 2020.
